iPad limited vocabulary of children - Business Pulse

generation iPad will have a narrower vocabulary than its predecessors.

Experts believe that the text messages, emails and computers used in teaching vocabulary limit among children.

We learn words, when we hear others speak them. Currently, more and more children are learning from the computer screen and not in the living dialogue, which greatly limits their vocabulary.

– Reliance on visual information rather than aids, makes know fewer words than previous generations – says Dr Marco Catani from the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College.

During his research Catani conducted an experiment involving 27 volunteers. People have been tested on memorizing invented words. Those who have heard up words and repeat them verbally, may drop significantly better in the study than those who are only read the same words.

scientist explains when learning new words, you can hear them first, then repeat until the point where words are stored. Technology, however, everything changes. Children communicate mostly by text, so that their vocabulary is limited.
