Electronics can, however, be deadly. 14-year-old Gianna Chien discovered that the case used to mount the iPad Smart Cover to small magnets can cause disorders of cardiac pacemakers. The situation is particularly dangerous when a person with a pacemaker sleeps with an iPad placed on the chest.
The discovery was made by Gianna as part of the research work, the results of which were presented at the 8000 conference, doctors Heart Rhythm Society in Denver.
